Week 5-The Five Minute Secret
With the first 4 weeks of 2012 already behind us, now is the perfect time to assess how you are using your time. Are you working as efficiently as you could be? Have you made enough time for family and friends, and most importantly for yourself? If you live and work in modern Western World, no doubt the answer is no. Most of us are so busy that we barely get a chance to stop and take a breath, let alone get to the gym or buy fresh fruit and veg. My book, ’52 Ways to get more Time in Your Life’ gives practical examples of not only how to save time, but also how to more constructively use the time you have.
My tip for Week 5 of 2012 is ‘The Five Minute Secret.’
Force yourself to spend the next five minutes on the task you’ve been putting off. It can be incredibly energising!
In five minutes you can: make a telephone call, organise a file, respond to a number of emails, read some paperwork, update your to-do list, jot down a reminder, empty the dishwasher, come up with some ideas for your most important project.
Set a timer… You can stop it when it rings but often this initial five minutes is enough to get you into it.
